Volksbühne
am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz

A Production by Leonie Böhm

Director Leonie Böhm collaborates closely with actors to develop her productions. She initially focused on works from the classical canon – such as Lessing’s Nathan the Wise, Schiller’s The Robbers and Goethe’s Faust – which she and her ensemble reimagined in radically deconstructive ways. Since then, she has expanded upon this practice to include contemporary texts. She worked with Kim de l’Horizon to make their Blutbuch transform into Blutstück. Currently, her adaptation of Lucas Rijneveld’s novel My heavenly favourite / Mein kleines Prachttier is shown in Munich, and she has plans to take to the stage herself in one of her next productions. The trained visual artist, art teacher and mediator likes to venture into unchartered territory. The attitude inherent in her approach is both radically vulnerable and challenging.  In her first production at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, she returns to working with Julia Riedler, the protagonist and co-author of their piece Fräulein Else (also currently showing at the Volksbühne).
