SISSY SMUT

Cinema, Performance

SISSY SMUT is a bold mix of cinematic art, performance, live concert, lecture, pornography, archive and nightlife. Initiated in collaboration with Matt Lambert, the format assembles artists, filmmakers, performers, musicians and other dear creatures, whose artistic practice defy fixed meanings, cultural pacification and the separation of politics and desire.

Inspired by queer film art, censored images, disappearing spaces and the lived experience of community, SISSY SMUT seek to create a temporary space for frictions and pleasures, contradictions and recollections. They are not into issues of representation nor haunted by nostalgia for queer scenes of the past. Rather, they like to look at bodies under pressure and see glamour as a survival strategy; camp as a form of politics; sexuality as a language, as ritual and risk.
