Roter Salon

INTERFILM and its sister festival KUKI – the young short film festival Berlin, show more than 350 short films every year in more than 60 programmes, workshops, events and case studies. The wealth of perspectives, stories, narratives, and impressions can be a bit overwhelming. That’s why INTERFILM and KUKI are inviting everyone to Roter Salon on October 12 for a programme preview for this year’s 42nd and 19th editions of the festivals. The curators prepare to present major issues in short films. There will be drinks and ample opportunity to chat with filmmakers, experts, and film fans.

In its 42nd edition, INTERFILM explores “Shared Shores,” that which remains when we leave behind all our cultural constructs. We all share struggles, emotions, desires, and fears, and there are parallels despite everything that separates us: connections, symmetries, parallel movements in response to situations that are comparable. We are all connected in some way, whether we can explain and name it or not. If words fail, art brings its potential forward, and that's where a good curatorial team comes in. For it is only through the wise combination of different perspectives and contrasting narratives that we will find the antithesis to the capitalist logic of isolation: kinship in opposition, solidarity in difference, connectedness in contrast.
